On a midnight blue background, this mug is scattered with cream and gold flowers. Its pattern is inspired by yuzen, the Kyoto kimono dyeing technique known for its vividly coloured flowers.

Its straight shape is comfortable to hold and its base is left in unglazed brown clay. Only the moulding is mechanical: everything else is done by hand, including the pattern.

Our Japanese porcelain comes directly from Japan, from small workshops and manufacturers chosen for the quality of their craftsmanship.

Most pieces are shaped in the Toki-Tajimi area of Gifu prefecture, the birthplace of Mino ceramics, or in Tokoname, one of Japan's six ancient kilns. The patterns, often applied by hand, draw on the traditional motifs of kimonos and Japanese tableware: tako karakusa, sakura, nami, komon…
